Inspector Mold

Mold is a scary issue, and you must trust your instinct.  If you think you have mold or something smells moldy, Have Your Home Inspected!  Mold is not a problem to ignore, health related issues can be devastating.

M O L D needs only two things to survive, Food & Water. 

Presently most  homes are built almost exclusively with food sources like wood, drywall, etcetera.  We pack them full with additional food  sources like clothes, books, magazines, furniture. 

Even non-food sources like a mirror or a concrete block can become a host for dust or dirt (food sources) and then becomes an object that mold can grow on. 

The best analogy is the chia pet, like a concrete block, can host nutrients and water and grow grass.

Mold spores are always in our environment.  It's naturally occurring and floating around looking for a fertile place to grow.  A fertile place to grow is a food source combined with moisture.  Moisture can be just high humidity.

You need to minimize or eliminate fertile places in your home.  It takes 24 - 48 hours for mold spores to start growing.  So clean up any water accident A.S.A.P.  A good analogy is the wet clothes left in the washer.  You leave it overnight, no problem it still smells fresh.  But, If you leave it in there a couple days, it smells.  Mold has started to grow and is putting off spores, which is what causes the smell.

The only  thing we can really control is the water aspect of the food + water = MOLD formula.  The solution: Fix all roofing, siding, and or foundation issues!  Fix all plumbing issues!  Reduce humidity in the home!  Ventilate the home with proper roof ventilation, ventilate all bathrooms and kitchens, and remove the bad stale air from your home with an EZ Breathe home ventilation system.
